The Port Wine is one of the most celebrated local produces of Porto, worldwide renowned for its quality. People interested in the history of this drink, as well as in the history of its commercialization and the impact of its industrial production on the economic development of the city should definitely visit the Port Wine Museum, which is a branch of the City Museum (Museu da Cidade), just like the Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha, Casa do Infante and other landmarks of Porto.

The museum is located in a warehouse which dates back to the 18th century and which serviced for a long time the so-called Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro. Visitors can admire exhibits such as informative panels on the history of the Port Wine trade, as well as pieces which provide an insight into the history of the development of sundry wine production-related articles (bottles and the like).
